The documents selected as archival records are in the care of archives and cultural and scientific institutions: museums, galleries, libraries, memorials, public research institutes and universities. Archival records are parts of archival fonds and archival collections. They are registered in the national register of archival records known as the National Archival Heritage. It does not register individual archival records or smaller groups thereof (archival aids are used for this purpose), but complete archival fonds and archival collections, or exceptionally, significant parts thereof. In case you are unable to find the archival fond or archival collection you are looking for, please send a query to arch@mvcr.cz (e.g. “I cannot find anything about the Sokolov Festival of Political Song. What words should I search for?”). Depending on the number of enquiries, you will receive a reply within three days. You can also use search functions in the information systems of individual archives that already contain archival finding aids.
